Shared ownership
Built from contribution.
Ownership at cOMmon is not about capital, it’s about care.
It is not something you buy. It’s something you grow into.
We believe that those who help build the ecosystem should also help own and steward it.
That’s why we use Slicing Pie: a fair, transparent model that tracks real contributions.
Why shared ownership?
Because extractive platforms create burnout.
Because venture capital demands exit strategies.
Because communities can’t grow in someone else’s sandbox.
Shared ownership means:
-
Value circulates within the network
-
Governance belongs to contributors; not investors
-
No passive profits, only active responsibility
This isn’t ideology. It’s infrastructure.

How Slicing Pie works
Slicing Pie is a dynamic equity model:
-
You contribute time, skills, care, money
-
We log your contribution, transparently
-
You earn slices, that represent your future share in the cooperative
Slices are not symbolic. They shape:
-
Decision-making power
-
Surplus sharing
-
Co-creation of tools and roadmap
-
A sense of true belonging
Ownership isn’t something we grant, it’s something we grow.
Who can earn slices?
All active cOMmon members starting from Grow Together.
You must:
-
Be engaged in official cOMmon initiatives (not just peer-to-peer)
-
Log your contribution transparently
-
Align with our values of care and reciprocity
Seed Circle members usually hold more slices, but they earn them too.

What ownership is not
-
Not tradable tokens or speculative shares-
-
Not something you buy
-
Not a status symbol
We don’t gamify contribution. We honour it.
❌
What if things fail?
There is always risk in co-creation.
If cOMmon were to stop, your contributions would not become formal ownership. But until then, slices are how we recognise shared risk and forward momentum.
You’re not investing in a product. You’re investing in possibility.
⚠️
Looking ahead
As we move toward legal cooperative status:
-
Slices will convert to formal shares
-
Voting and governance structures will be finalised
-
Collective decision-making tools will be launched
