Let’s get one thing clear: We’re not here to build a new system on old foundations. We’re not replacing burnout with burnout, or money with martyrdom.
We’re here to build a new culture. One that honors every contribution, whether it's made with hands, hearts, or minds.
And that begins with how we work together.
🤲 Volunteering Is Beautiful, But It’s Not Always Fair
We’ve all seen it. Volunteering platforms that feel like charity missions. “Come give us your energy. Your time. Your expertise.”... And walk away with a thank-you and maybe a place to sleep.
That might work once. Maybe twice. But for long-term impact, it’s not sustainable. Not for the traveler. Not for the host. Not for the land.
Regeneration deserves more than free labor. It deserves fair exchange.
⚖️ The Three Ways to Collaborate on cOMmon
At cOMmon, we offer three basic ways to collaborate. These are flexible, and up to you to negotiate, but here’s how we frame it:
Volunteer
A gift of time and energy. Still, it should feel good and balanced. Even volunteers deserve clarity, care, and fair conditions.
Self-Employed
You offer a skill. You set a price. Like building a greenhouse, teaching a course, or restoring a roof. The platform helps you track your earnings and expenses.
Employed
For longer stays, legal contracts can offer structure and stability. You agree on hours, wage, and responsibilities. We’ll help you outline terms that work for both sides.
For Both Employed and Self-Employed
Cross-border laws can be messy, taxes, social security, visas. We're working toward solutions that serve both groups fairly. Whichever path you take, cOMmon gives you tools to communicate, document, and complete your exchange with ease.
🧾 Admin Made Simple
Let’s be real, nobody joins a regenerative project for the paperwork. That’s why we’re building features that make the admin part light:
Track your income and expenses
Match your work to local tax rules
Export data for your accountant
Confirm a completed job with one click
Keep records that are legally sound and human-friendly
In time, we’ll even offer the ability to link your cOMmon wallet with your national systems (where possible).
We're not just offering tools. We're growing a supportive network where you can ask questions, share challenges, and find the best solution together.
💬 Let’s Design This Together
This part of the platform, how we collaborate, legally and energetically, is fragile and important. We want to get it right. And we want to build it with you.
Are you someone who’s navigated international contracts? Struggled with tax forms while traveling? Tried to offer your services but ran into bureaucracy?
We’d love you to help us shape this part of cOMmon. On every page you visit while logged in, you’ll find a little lightbulb, your invitation to spark ideas.
Suggestions with potential will be shared on The Common Spark, our evolving wall of co-creation, where others can read, vote, and build on your input. Because the best solutions start with a spark and grow when we light the way together.
🌱 It’s Not “Work” If It Feeds You
The goal isn’t to create new jobs. The goal is to create meaning. To turn our skills, efforts, and passions into part of a life worth living.
This isn’t about escaping through pleasure. It’s about building something solid, where pleasure becomes a natural result of balance, not a compensation for exhaustion.
On cOMmon, regeneration is not charity. It’s a collaboration. A shared mission. A way forward that honors everyone’s energy.
